Raven

Raven by Amanda Fantastic.
"All the Woulda Coulda Shouldas
layin' in the sun
talking about the things
they woulda coulda shoulda done

Then all the woulda coulda shouldas
they all ran away and hid
from one
little
did."

-Shel SIlverstein

In nordic tradition, the god Oslin had two ravens named Thought and Memory. Every day he would send out his ravens to learn everything that was going on in the world, and they would come back and report it to him. This is how they got the reputation as being messengers.

As a journalist, it rings true to me.

Over time, the raven got a reputation as being the messenger of death. So I tied it in to the poem Woulda Coulda Shoulda to mean that I can't live life remembering those who died and the things I woulda coulda shoulda done with them.

It's also to symbolise that I should just DO things instead of sitting around, because you never know when the messenger of death will be calling your name.

It's a memorial tattoo for Miss Melissa Claire Blezard (September 20, 1983 - September 21, 2006) and Mr. Henry Joseph LeRossignol (August 9 1920 - December 20 2006).
