I got back today from some hectic shoot in the plains where it was again savagely burning with raw heat and choking dust.
This time however, there were no forest fires in the Himalayas. A brief spell of rains earlier on seems to have doused the spreading flames.
This is part of the photos shot on 30th of May when fires were everywhere. This one was only 40 yards away from the house from where it was shot.
This photo (alongwith 3 others ) also appears on CNN International as

Notes on Photography
This has been shot with a telescopic lens mounted on a tripod. Once the framing is possible, it is an easier proposition to shoot with a tripod. That requires planning the frame in your mind first. Lots of choices and preferences exist as to the usage of a tripod.
The ones who do not use it say that a tripod kills creativity.
The ones who use it say they can frame better than the others.
What it really does is that it gives you a steady mount. That is what one needs when the shutter speeds are low.
