Great idea! I have seen old Macs (SE 30's) turned into fish tanks but never a gumball machine. Very inventive and stylish.

I've seen ancient computer monitor and television fishtanks, but none of the gumball machine variety. Quite lovely.

world of pj: are you stalking me? hahahaha! thanks for swinging by the hipster's pad. Next time, won't you stay while?

GooseGoddessS: Thanks for commenting & also for letting me know where you saw. Unfortunately, Blaylaka met her untimely demise when a chinsy mirror mysteriously fell off the wall above my fridgerator where she was thought to be put in a "safe", out-of-the-way place... R.I.P.

Craftymule: Yes, it wasn't an easy project, but it worked like a charm once all of the kinks were ironed out. Don't have it anymore - it resides in Bklyn - part of a split of goods arrangement.

spaceboy dream: I've heard tell of those & have seen photographs, but never seen any in person. This was all the idea of my mate, PJ Mehaffey (Assistant Style Manager, Real Simple mag) who said he "always wanted to do this" & did! Yah! Glad you enjoyed.

I thinkso too. Perhaps I should make them to sell? I'm really thinking about it...what would you pay?

thefunctionalartist says:

Yes I think you should. They are very unique and original and the red is eyecatching. Would look great in a retro environment. As for price...I am so bad with that. I think though that in a high end original shop, something I'd love to have with my furniture someday, they would get a pretty good price.
People will pay for original ooak pieces. Go for it!

SUB: hahahaha!

winglessangel: she had a fish tank gum ball machine? WOW.

edEx: Ed, you help me out & I'll make one just for you. I sell them as art pieces for a pretty penny (every pun intended) & I can't have you destroying a perfectly good machine b/c you thought you could achieve it, but failed miserably. Not saying you will, but everyone who tries "borrowing" my pieces ends up woefully disenchanted. LOL.

Do you sell them on ebay as well? I saw a huge selection there, Betta, I think that's it.
Yes, this is fun, seen quite of few even back in the late 60's, people using old vending machines, tv's, blenders, for fishtanks, and I just saw a really cool gumball machine bubble lamp on amazon. Such a fun way to use old items.

Hi Corrine, No, have shied away from ebay, although I have a store there & also on etsy. Seems there's just not enough time in one day.

Btw., your artwork is beautiful. You don't sell it on eBay, do you? Nothing says sophistication like the world wide web's largest yard sale! LoL.

Then again, there's a distinct possibility I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Got a tad preoccupied today by some decorator from Wako who seems to have claws for fingers.

I was wondering how much water this holds? (Im not implying animal cruelty at all) I want to buy one but I don't want to move my betta to a smaller tank. But if its the same amount or more than I definitely will consider this (:

Indestructible Flower ---> Thanks!

Alfredo S. ---> You know, I'm not entirely certain. This was a prototype and now sits in a Brooklyn apartment.

Would you like me to ask the person?

Recently, I bought a different machine (a Ford one from the 1960's) to make another tank, but the machine's design didn't allow for my concept. On the prowl for another one, though.

This is really an art piece and as such, would cost considerably more than just a regular tank. Let me know if you're serious and we can chat.
