Flightless Bird (Week Six of Fifty-Two)![]() Auzigog.com
View my other 52 Weeks self portraits. This photo: I tried a lot of different poses and setups for this weeks photo. I finally decided a mirror shot would be appropriately cliche. There are a few photoshop techniques that I see used a lot that I wanted to learn, so I figured a self-portrait would be an appropriate place to try them out. Low contrast/Lomo. I fooled around with the instructions from this video. I didn't get the exact effect I was looking for, but it was pretty close. Rounded corners Texture overlay. This one is pretty easy. Just make a new layer and change the "Blend Mode" to "Soft Light". You can try other modes for different effects. Shot at a really high aperture so I could get the detail in the CFL bulbs. Had to use flashes to bring light into the rest of the room to compensate. This week: This week was pretty uneventful. I'm still reading Ishmael and editing photos with my free time. Went to the ducks game today. We lost, but it was still fun. All of my friends are slowly making their way back to Eugene after being gone for the summer. I'm excited for the school year to get started. I'm especially excited to start taking Environmental Science classes so I can be sure that that's where I want to go with my life. Check it out large on white! Strobist: SB-600 camera left at full power bouncing against ceiling. SB-28 with DIY gridspot at 1/8 camera left hitting my face. Commentsspudcheyne

Nicely done, nuking those bulbs down. I don't see any spill.
