the results of drawing from a photograph are different than from a mirror, but with no less merit- florentijn.
purpose and intent factor in a great deal when deciding to work from life or a previous image. both can have significant meaning.

I created a group along similar lines a while ago. though the concept behind my group is that you can choose any photo on flickr and then draw/paint it using mspaint or a similar basic paint package then post it to the group, and include a link to the original photo in the description.

You need to actually join the group in order to see the images in the pool, as Flickr in their "infinite wisdom" have decided that because the images in the group arent photos they cannot be displayed to the general public, so only group members can see the images. Quite annoying but thats Flickr for you.
