I was the editor of this, the first official
"corporate" pages on the BBC
website. I worked in Corporate Marketing at
the time and recall having to negotiate a fee
(something like £500 I think) to get Aardman
Animation to let us use Wallace & Gromit
on the homepage.
The Networking Club had put some corporate
stuff up before this site was launched but
the content was a bit random.
I also coined the "info" web
address which is still in use today for the
corporate pages at bbc.co.uk/info.
Haygarth Group were the design agency we
used, based in Wimbledon (very convenient for
me but just a coincidence).
better then the current beta at least ;o)
