A for Effort

A for Effort by eye2eye.
For a college assignment, my sister had to do some sort of comparison between suburban and inner-city classrooms; I tagged along to provide a visual record with my Rolleiflex (with B&W film).

Dave,
I love this so much ...
the difference is what we see ...
the sameness is what we feel ...
so very different, yet so much alike !!

Really nice, Dave. I think what I find fascinating about your older shots, aside from the fact that I like old photos, is that you were talented back then.

You had an eye for it from the beginning.

I love these older shots. Hard to beat film, especially b&w in larger format than 35mm.

Fun to see the different perspective and choices in youth from current tastes and also the common threads over the years as well.

There is a hint of green in this that I notice, but I don't think it's that big a deal, as the moment with these two children is nicely captured. It's amazing how many people would have snapped this from above instead of getting on their level. I like the blur, the focus, and the desk provides a nice space and balance to the bottom of the image.

Wonderful!!! Takes me back to the days when imitating was bad. After all these years in Knowledge Management where imitiating is good, I am a sucker for nostalgia...

The tongue, the obvious envy, just bonuses for the time that there will be a Golden Safe... Should fly right in...

Voted saveme.

i like the expression, and it nicely sums childhood. but i don't think it's quite as good as it could be -- some of the faces in the background seem a little distracting.

Darn, I thought I could just echo neovikings thoughts... No such luck. He is right most of the times, but come on, the girl in the center, just (and thereby perfectly) recognizable in the back with her hand in her mouth. That notion of "Je ne sais quoi" is universal and enough to carry this one into the Safe...
Tsss, distracting.... awesome!
