Behind The Red Curtain - Luzhai

The window of an small house in Luzhai County, China. Notice the open-air "window" at top where the bars are. An illustration of how this rural community must have struggled during the harsh winter when temperatures hovered around the freezing mark for weeks. I am trying to mix it up with my photostream, hoping to avoid get pigeon-holed into a certain style or genre.

In China, red is the symbol of fire and the south (both south in general and Southern China specifically). It carries a largely positive connotation, being associated with courage, loyalty, honor, success, fortune, fertility, happiness, passion, and summer.

Don't worry, Michael, I don't think you will ever get pigeon-holed into a certain genre. Especially if you upload additional floral shots. LOL. Another wonderful visual documentary of life in Luzhai. Really wonderful to view in its original size. You can see that some of the glass panes have patterns, you see the rusted bars, the reflection on the glass and the red (I think it's red, not orange) curtain.
