Love that golden hour!

After recovering from his rattlesnake bite, Geoff is a pencil-neck again :o)

Poor Geoffrey had an unfortunate encounter with a rattlesnake on Friday. I had to beg off last-minute taking my sister and brother-in-law to the airport so I could instead rush him to the emergency veterinary clinic where they monitored his blood sedimentation rate and pumped him full of fluids to flush out the toxin, and ultimately decided not to administer antivenin (which relieved me, and not just for the $600 per vial expense. That stuff is rough on some dogs!)
He came home the same night, puffed up like a blowfish, but with his usual good appetite. Three days later, he's looking better and seems to be fine, if a little afraid of the back yard.
The snake was by the chicken coop, looking for mice, I'd guess and now he has two good reasons to avoid the area: chickens and snakes!

I was a little late in getting her birthday shot (and loading it) but 12/15 was Natasha's 4th birthday. She seems pensive, but is assuredly not ready to let go of her childhood. With two younger brothers, she spends a lot of time at play
