Our ongoing collection

Mozart Magic Cube. My folks brought it over and we use it to try to help encourage the babies to sit unaided.
Two of the many phones we have in the house, but usually cannot find.
Sandra Boynton - a huge fave in this house.
Two cloth books my stepmom picked up for the babies at a used bookstore. They are personalized for a kid named Madison, but Nick and Nora don't care, they just like the books.
Some of the 75 Dr. Seuss books we have - not all of them made it over here with my folks' visit as their bags were over the limit!
Some of 50 Berenstain Bears I bought for the babies.
Beatrix Potter collection that we love.
Thomas the Tank Engine.
oh my god. I had a TON of these. I think I gave them to my mom for her 2nd grade class room, but I'm not sure what she did with them when she retired. :(

-girl.
My grandma loved the Berenstain Bears, and to this day I have a hard time getting through one without crying-I miss her so much....
A fave of ours too.
Hehe, yeah, we have a lot of used books that have loving inscriptions to other children in them. :P
Ladybird books? I had loads of these as a kid, but can't buy them over here. So the very few that I do have are big treasures.
Rose likes Dr Suess too. We own a few and have been borrowing from the library.
Our ongoing collection by everyday_stranger.
The books are in the study as the nursery is about to disappear, so this is a short-term arrangement. I hate - HATE - that they're not alphabetical, the anal-retentive in me is going mad. Still, it's short term. Soon it will be arranged my way, at least until the babies can reach for things and demolish them for me.

I started off with only a few books, but with huge thanks to folks who sent me books, to my ebay purchases, and to my folks whom we jokingly call "our mules" who brought over many books this past visit (including all of the Dr. Seuss), I think we're getting there.

My kids to this day like their books in bins, which drives me bonkers. Wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't at least two bins in every room of the house, even the bathroom.

Wow, I haven't really started collecting books. And I'm such a bookworm, too. So jealous of all the Seuss books!

You can never have too many books - our kids both have full floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and read insatiably. Mind you, research says that if your children see you reading, then they will read - this is especially true for boys, who tend only to read if they see their father reading for pleasure. And it goes almost without saying, reading to and with them is vital...

(Our 10 year old has just read Jane Eyre and Little Women, by choice - her favourite authors include Neil Gaiman and Doug Adams, as well as Jaqueline Wilson and Karen McCombie. The 8 year old is a fan of Arthur Ransome, being halfway through the series. They both are Harry Potter addicts, of course.)

Mind you, there were times when they were tiny I'd happily have choked the Fox with his Socks...
