The size (2cm in length) and anatomic features suggest development equivalent to a nine-week pregnancy (or seven weeks post ovulation). In obstetrics, pregnancy is dated from the first day of the last menstrual period, which is about two weeks prior to the ovulation that resulted in the pregnancy
There is another image of a 10-week embryo on Flickr, which is quite spectacular.

That is most certainly a baby no matter how you see it, chellparis1 - a baby who feels pain and does not deserve to be murdered (just as there are studies stating a fetus this young does not feel pain, there are also studies which state they do). Adoption is always an option...there are so many women who cannot have babies; it's very sad.
It should be just as illegal to kill a fetus as it would be to kill you, chellparis1. What makes you so much more special than a fetus? Just because you were able to breathe the air here on earth because your mother did not abort you, this makes you more special? I beg to differ...
This child had a beating heart, do you agree? I am aware that this baby was the result of an ectopic pregnancy and had a zero survival rate, but surely you agree that beforehand this child had a beating heart. And if this baby had not been ectopic, chances are it would be here breathing the same air as you and I. If a human is considered dead when his heart stops beating, why is a fetus not considered "alive" when its heart begins beating. In the very least, this is something to ponder...
Unfortunately, the abortion was necessary to save this woman's life; I understand that. When this happens, it's just as tragic as a car accident where people die suddenly and unexpectedly. However, when people have abortions simply because the baby was not wanted or isn't perfect, or even if the woman is told the baby will die shortly after birth, it is murder. Actually, abortion is premeditated murder...
You can see a 9-week fetus as non-human all you want; however, it IS a child. But hey, whatever helps people sleep at night, I suppose.

All I can add, is that your uninformed about the process of a fetus. The difference between me and this embryo is that i have consiousness. and if as an embryo it died so be it. grow up,
