14th of July 2012: Bastille Day.
The President of the EP, Martin Schulz, is in Paris for an official visit.
Schulz was invited by French President François Hollande. Together with a European Parliament delegation, he will be present for Bastille Day celebrations.
The aim of this visit is to increase co-operation between France and the European Parliament in several matters, notably competition and a way out of the current crisis.
Schulz will be visiting the National Assembly and the Senate to
discuss the role played by national Parliaments and the European
Parliament, as well as the threats of deparlamentarisation and
democratic deficit both
Parliaments have to contend with.
Schulz will meet several members of the local and international press as well as members from the Génération précaire collective to discuss youth unemployment and underemployment.
On the last day of his visit, President Schulz will be present for the Bastille Day ceremony with the European Parliament delegation.
