Laughing Nina Read Poster Example![]() This is just an example of adding text with Picnik, which can now be accessed directly from Flickr.
To try this, choose one of your images, and click on the Edit button over the picture. The picture will open in Picnik. It might take a minute or two, but it's definitely worth the wait. The picture will open in the Edit tab, where you can do basic cropping, resizing and color corrections. Click on the Create Tab, and then click on the Text option. Enter some text in the box, and choose a font. (There are several free fonts, but the ones marked Premium are only available if you upgrade your account for $24.95 a year.) You can also choose text effects like bold and Italics, and there's a slider to change the size. There's also a color spectrum that allows you to choose your font color. Click on Add to put your text on the picture. It will appear in a box which you can move around with your mouse. You can resize the text by stretching it out grabbing the corners with the mouse. When you finish, you can go back and add another piece of text, and place that on the picture. You can move things around until you like the effect. Save the edited picture to your Flickr account. If you have a Flickr Pro account, you will have the option to replace your original photograph, or to save the edited version as a new file. You can add a title and description, tags, and a set as part of the Save process. This is really an easy way to turn any photo from your Flickr account into a Read poster, or to add any sort of text. It's actually a lot simpler than it sounds. (This would make a much better read poster if there were a book in the picture -- I just didn't happen to have a better picture handy.)
