Coconut Seller - Phnom Penh, Cambodia
I caught him in the middle of making a sale. He just spends all day pushing around a cart full of coconuts, along with a knife and a packet of drinking straws. You give him a 1,000 riel (that's around 25 US cents) and he chops the top off of a green coconut and inserts a straw for you to drink. It's really refreshing on a hot day in Phnom Penh.
Coconut water is sorta like God's sports drink; it has all the electrolytes that you need when dehydrated, and it's also a good source of potassium, calcium and vitamin C. It's actually so sterile that it can be injected right into your bloodstream with no filtering. It has a very similar makeup to human plasma, so in a pinch it can be used as a universal donor for someone who needs a blood transfusion. Plus I think coconut water tastes pretty good. :) View Large On Black Taken in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. CommentsUrban Angel
