Order of the Alismatales

Order of the Alismatales

I made this photo early this morning on the Canon P. The exposure is verging on high-key, but this was the quality of light as I saw it through my eyes.

A self-portrait from the first roll of film using the Canon P. The scan, from a drugstore, is poor quality, but the negative itself contains much more detail. I am pleased to see the Canon P is working at all shutter speeds and focusing accurately—plus, the selenium meter still functions!

Canon P with a Canon 50mm f/2.8 LTM

Canon P with a Canon 50mm f/2.8 LTM

Here is a new-to-me Canon P built around 1960 to replace my well-loved, late Canonet QL-17. This nearly indestructable, chrome-coated brass rangefinder weighs more than a fully-equipped Nikon D80 DSLR but is a fraction of the D80's size. Will you scoff at me if I tell you it was love at first shutter actuation?
