5181Driving along the backroads of Oklahoma, we managed to run into someone we know out shooting. While my husband enjoyed shooting too, I took pictures of the surroundings.
Uploaded on Jun 27, 2009 Nitrogen FillThis is the little sign on the nitrogen fill for the abandoned missile silo we actually had access to. It was pretty rusted out, which is a feature I like on my "subjects."
Uploaded on Jun 21, 2009 Keep Them outI really liked the sign in front of the missile silo on the previous photo. I don't know exactly what drew me to making this particular shot with the focusing i did, but I'm happy with the results. I hope the noir processing doesn't take away from it. I think it adds, but that's me.
Uploaded on Jun 19, 2009 Missile Silo - LugertDavid found a list of old missile silos here in southwest Oklahoma. We went out looking for them over 2 weekends. The first weekend, this was the only one we could get close to. The others had all been sold and were being lived in (the control centers) and the quanza huts were being used to house farm equipment. I really only got photos of two. This one and one on the following weekend. I really enjoyed checking them out. I couldn't get inside the fence on this one. There's only one way in and out, and it's heavily overgrown. But it was so worth going.
Uploaded on Jun 14, 2009 Headrick BridgeThis is our old Headrick Bridge. I chose to do this in HDR to bring out the details of the bridge and the sky.
