Awful

I've decided to stop this game of needless acquisition and to start simplifying my life — my job, my possessions, my workspace and my thoughts.

I start a new job doing something very different next week, and I've decided to take the same reasoning and apply it to the rest of my life. Silly consumerism no more. I've been caught in that loop for too long and I've realised that its ways seem counterproductive. I'm selling most everything I own and trying to pare back to 100 possessions.

I've tried to move my setup into being as open and free as I can without compromising my productivity, which has led me to being able to use free (as in speech or as in beer) software for nearly all of my tasks except for Adobe Creative Suite. In doing so, I've also been able to pare down my laptop's hard drive space requirements to a 60GB SSD.

The dock on the bottom is usually hidden away.

I don't know where this has been for the last 40 years, but I picked up this
Technics solid-state amplifier for $18 at Goodwill. It has a manufacture
date of September 1970. It's not even the least bit dusty. The faceplate
isn't scratched. It looks brand new.
