making cards for sponsors
on our last day at SNEHA, we helped the students make christmas cards for their sponsors. out of the 800 s'um students at the school, only about 40 of them are sponsored. sponsorship comes from someone outside the country who is helping to fund the student's education. i was told by dr. reeta that $159 dollars helps support a student for an entire year with their tuition, uniform, books, supplies, and other necessities. i was amazed at how so little can make such a difference in a child's life. sponsors receive regular updates on how the kids are progressing, along with personal letters written by the students themselves.

some more shots of the nursery kids. i only got to meet them on the last day at SNEHA after we had finished our work with the other grades. i revisited this classroom several times on this day. just couldnt get enough of them.

in the nursery class...i was trying to get a portrait of this little guy, but the other kids kept getting in front of the camera. it was so cute and funny to see them so excited at getting their pictures taken. i did manage to get a few of him which i ll post later.

i caught this sweet face after school while she was waiting to get picked up. i was hanging out with another group of kids nearby and this young lady wanted to come over, but she was too shy. i allured by taking a few shots of her and then showing them to her. finally, she came and joined us. unfortunately for me, she didnt speak enough english for us to communicate.

one of the things i loved about the children was that they were so eager to have their photo taken. then an even bigger smile would emerge when they see themselves. even after youve taken a few, still you could hear them say, "please ma'am, one more."
