A woman in front of me lighting a cigarette, another walking her child to school, a man leaning on a letter box while he waited at the traffic lights, another reading the newspaper while he walked, a woman stretching out her hand, begging, a young boy asleep on a sofa discarded on the street, a young girl sitting on the ground in a doorway writing a letter.

In a way, my camera made me stop and show deference and respect for all those faces and moments so far removed from me, but which I now feel so part of myself.

Una mujer encendía un cigarrillo frente a mí, otra acompañaba a su hijo en el camino hacia la escuela, un hombre aguardaba junto al semáforo, otro leía el periódico sin dejar de caminar, una mujer extendía su mano para pedir limosna, un muhacho dormía en un sofá abandonado en la calle, una joven escribía una carta sentada en el suelo de un portal.

De alguna manera, mi cámara me obligaba a detenerme, a mostrar deferencia y respeto por todos esos rostros y pequeños instantes ajenos que ahora siento tan míos.
