worn out shoes

taking the shoes on and off too many times at Reagan Airport in DC
literally falling down some stairs. And I'm a big guy. It was a LOUD noise!
I blame this one as well on the airport security SHOES ON! SHOES OFF! routine (said with the voice from the guy from Karate Kid)
Ugly? who cares, this is what makes them so comfortable.
stiff heal and blisters waiting to happen. gotta pay the cost to be the ... fool who bought new shoes, eh?
new burgundy color, just like the old burgundy color
actual cow skin carpet brought back from a house in New Mexico. Because clearly I am not Vegan. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
the main point of course is appearances versus reality and work ethic gone astray. See blog post.

permanent emotional scarring from the hobo kitchen, although I doubt I was wearing this pair of shoes that day. http://www.flickr.com/photos/eschipul/1242169304/
no I did not buy the damn PINE shoe horn things. The shoes work for me, not me for them. Yes feed the dog. No, do not "feed" the shoe.
11s if you want to get all personal and stuff....

"Buy New Shoes When You Need New Shoes!"

"When we think of those who present a false front or "only" a front, of those who dissemble, deceive, and defraud, we think of a discrepancy between fostered appearances and reality." - Erving Goffman, The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life, pg 59

Excellent notes and blog post. Wow. Life Journal, huh?
I owned hiking boots replaced this year. They had been on three continents, and countless US cities. It felt sad to let them go along with a pair of ColeHaans the shoe doctor said would be kind of silly to re-sole (soul). Again. Please? No. Okay.

@aggiechristine - thanks for the comments. And yes, left was dead.

@shinyshoes - well everyone has a fetish. Just kidding!

@jbolles - Thanks for the feedback. Those shoes pretty much are a life journal of airports and travel and speaking and work over the last year. They were very well traveled! And you are the first one to catch the "sole" and "soul" transliteration between physical motion and life.
