YOJIMBO

YOJIMBO by ernest.borg9.
7 colors. This is the proof, not the final. I'd say it's about 85% there. I'm used to doing color separations for screenprints on actual acetate films-- this one is done on paper and scanned in, reformatted in photoshop (I can't get out to Axelle Arts this week to use the proper facilities this time). It's tedious work, tough to estimate the final color placements since it's all done in solid tone layers, one on top of the other...the gradients in the circle device at bottom will be better looking in the final.

It looks good, though I expected more plain colors I like the atmosphere a lot.
Good luck with the printed version.

I bet the gradient is extra tough. I'm surprised at the more-or-less monochromatic color scheme from you. I keep looking for a little drop of juicy light blue somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.

Very nice! I ordered the print/tee combo. Speaking of tee's, any word on the 2nd line of DKNY gear? I know I saw some sneaks @ some point.

Fan mail to PP from 2003 (which makes NOW the future):

Dear Paul, I felt fingers encircling necks at the end of the last THb, a rising creshendo of organ music even. Funny, this feeling, this cliff hanger tableaux, remaining perpetually suspended while your muse splashes away in the rich dark world of the Batman. The Solo pages of the embattled Robin and his kidnappers in the industrial park are so menacing. The summer release of a series (?) of Batman comics by Paul Pope is terrific news. Congratuations! ***I especially enjoyed the scrapping, cursing Robin and the indignant and conflicted Joker who is too distracted in his torturing of the boy to feel the weight of Batman's boot heels. I think the page of Robin's in-close punching scene beneath the swathe of electric power towers and transmission lines, that page is brilliant. And then there is that other gorgeous page, and this other fantastic page... You know, that whole story with the mood and expression so free, and the ink and the color coming together so well, Teenage Sidekick is some fine work. Keep doing like, you're doing it! How does ThB find HR when he wakes up and she's in jail?

And then you got crowned MrEisner vision. So I gotta ask you many things, but for the comic historians and the great public at bey, was Mr Eisner much more arm-twisted by the syndicates than you are by the New York a-go-go? Was he forced to farm out his spirit while yours (HRlollieThBUmStetsumthecoffeefilterguy), yours will only touch down in its own time? Does any of this rhyme?

And how could I forget, good old Walt Disney!!!
That scene, the take down of Walt Disney at the city gates..!!!
Crushingly good, and beautifully done up in the Ritzen(?) poster.

This Nakatomi Invitation scroll is sweet, Yojimbo high above us, and and us right beside him.

Does anyone remember 2003?
DC's Paul Pope Solo came out along with ThB #7 (unofficial)
And Prince has been King ever since, as far as I know.
