Congress is coming back soon

crop this itty bitty black line
Congress is coming back soon by erin m.
"And now," cried Max, "let the wild rumpus start!"

I was a little worried that this silhouette wouldn't be recognizable, but as I sat there taking this, every single person walking by cried "Max!" as soon as they spied him. That includes the several small children prodded by their parents ("Go ahead, ask her!") and the two burly construction workers ("Man, I loved that book.")

Have you ever seen a movie that equalled the book it was based on?

But in this case, I feel like it's about capturing the mood of the book and the feeling of something beloved coming to life, and all indications so far are that they've succeeded. A gal can dream.

Cool. I wasn't trying to discourage you from your dreams. I don't go to as many movies as you do, so it was an honest question.

... at the same time, two of my most beloved books have been made into not-so-beloved movies in the last few years. The movie version "Time Traveler's Wife" made me cry like a little girl, but it couldn't hold a candle to the book. And I still haven't mustered up the courage to see the film version of "Love in the Time of Cholera," because... well, just no. I figure the world's about due for the rare movie that succeeds in adapting a book :)

@Kevin: I like Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep better than Bladerunner. I might be in the minority there.

@Lori - I saw the movie first & then read the book afterward, so that could be why I didn't like the book as much. Plus I was in high school.
