we all want to be wanted
love to be loved
need to be needed
dream of being dreamed of

while hopes and starry eyes
flicker gently in the night
do you wait and pray for someone
to come and change your life
well I provide a service
let's just say I make things right
sample my wares because I can offer
anything you'd like

I'm the salesman of fantasy
out selling dreams
could you use
something new
to believe in

I'm a beacon of light
a port in a storm
a calm in the sea of emotion

I'll make you forever rich
or forever young
there's never a problem dreams can't overcome
I can give to you beauty
extract truth from a lie
let me help keep the tears from your eyes

if you give me a call
I can come right away
and there's never a charge
unless you want to pay
I've no shortage of clients
I work night and day
in a world that seems destined to say

THE CANVAS

if I could write sweet words that rhyme
I'd write a poem for you
if I could sketch a colored thought
by blending pastel views
I'd let the colors flow
forevermore
on the canvas of your heart

and if I was a poet still
I'd try to find the words
that might describe my mood
