Common Goldeneye

Common Goldeneye

This one was taken on one of the days with a bit of sun a week or two ago - not too sure just when, a bit hard to remember when we had a bit of sun. But anyway, a nice bird, beautiful for sure and one of my favourites.

American Dipper

American Dipper

This one was working its way upstream towards me, so I stood still by some bushes and waited a while. It came to right 7up to me, too close in fact for when I moved back a bit to stay in focus, it flitted easily across to the dark side. End of photo session.

Photo - in the fall a little over a year ago

Long-tailed Duck, female

Long-tailed Duck, female

Long-tailed Ducks are divers and able to stay down quite a long time. This one was was after aquatic vegetation as you can see.

Snapped it when it came up a bit closer to the camera than it had intended..

Snow Goose

Snow Goose

Snow Goose portrait with the ever present big grin, and details of the days menu. The orange colour on the cheek is iron oxide stain incurred while digging in the mud for nutritious reed roots at the outbound edge of the saltmarsh.

Snow Goose

A flock of 3 or 4 thousand were ravaging the grass across the river from the airport. They were advancing westward towards the afternoon sun, small groups from time to time taking flight to get ahead of the others. It was kind of a hay day for several of us with cameras too.
