The plant owner confirmed it was a mixup in the labeling. He obtained it labeled as a first bloom seedling of Kiwi Baron but in fact it's a mericlone of Kiwi Midnight.
A friend of mine has just posted this picture on my facebook timeline. And I have a question: is this Cymbidium a really black one? I mean, there are some orchid species sold as a black Orchid, but actually they are not. Brasiliorchis schunkeana, for instance, does not have a REAL black flower.
Another question: Do you know what are the parents of this hybrid?

What a fabulous painting of flowers! They are the same in reality as in the photo?

I would say it's even a little darker under certain lighting conditions. It's essentially black under all but the brightest light.

No, just like every other black flower I've ever seen - it is so intensely purple/red that it effectively appears black.
Here is the RHS Orchid Hybrid search website, it's a good one to bookmark:
apps.rhs.org.uk/horticulturaldatabase/orchidregister/
I updated the description on this shot to reflect the parents.
