I took a quick, unplanned trip across the river a couple of weeks ago. I'd originally gone out to shoot Woodward Avenue for the upcoming E.D show (see previous two shots for reference). I got up extra early thinking I'd get some last remnants of night shots and then shoot in the morning golden hour. Well, I decided after I got there that the night shots in my designated area were less-than-interesting and, as you can see, the cloud cover didn't do wonders for the golden hour.
So I found myself with some spare time and, since I'd been meaning to do some skyline shots from Canada for months now, decided to take advantage of the opportunity to take the tunnel to Windsor and shoot from the park over there. The construction limited my ability roam though. Still, I got some nighttime city lights shots but things got really interesting when the sun began to rise. This beautiful fog came into view and I was fortunate to be there at just the right time to use long exposures and flatten out that water.
This was the best shot of that day, the unplanned, non-project related shot. Typical. But I think it is portfolio fodder, so it's a good thing.
