How wonderful! A favorite book with wonderful illustrations. I have the book Sara Crewe or What Happened at Miss Minchin's which, if I remember correctly, was how Burnett first wrote Sara's story, then had so many people who liked the story and wanted a more expanded version of Sara's life. I'll have to keep my eye out, though, for your edition. I really like her illustrations. Mine are more like woodcuts, black and white. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry I missed your thoughtful comment earlier! Your version sounds interesting...I can say this expanded version, which became the standard, is an enchanting story. I imagine you would really enjoy it ~

I've read both versions, and must say, I didn't like Sara as well in her original version. There also were several beloved characters missing in the first edition. The book I grew up reading was illustrated by Tasha Tudor. I'd seen other versions illustrated by others, but somehow missed yours. It's a tossup which I like better now. Always fun to see a beloved story interpreted differently.

What is wrong with me, I missed your follow up comment too?!! How surprising that the expanded version would not include characters from the original, I will have to try to find and read it. How nice to add to the story I already know! Tasha Tudor's illustrations would have been delightful, too.
