Lady of the Moor by Ennor

Lady of the Moor

BEATRICE CHASE (1874-1955). Beatrice Chase is the pen name for the Dartmoor based writer who was born Olive Katharine Parr, the name on the simple cross on her grave in Widecombe churchyard. A direct descendant of William Parr, brother of Catherine, the sixth wife of Henry VIII, she was known as ‘The Lady of the Moor’ and had a great passion for Dartmoor. From her writing desk beside her favourite window, in her cottage on the outskirts of Widecombe, she wrote many novels including ‘Through a Dartmoor Window’, ‘The Heart of the Moor’ and ‘The Ghost of the Moor’.
