i wish i were a camera
136/365 - i wish it all the time, it gives my eyes a reason, it gives my life a rhyme.
Looking at this makes me feel like its a college film class in 1963, and I am sitting with my high school sweetheart (who of course is also taking the class ;) on the lawn of the campus where we have both ran off away from home to pursue our own dreams, and to quit living in the shadows of our parents. We are going to school in Berkely CA, and he picked the school since he is a writer and Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg are out there. We run up the coast every weekend to catch Janis and Jerry play on the streets of Haight in San Fran, where I bring my trusty rangefinder (see above) and catch all the action, while catching a little buzz of course...from capturing all the magic with my camera! sheesh! And we make friends with everyone, wear no shoes, he wears a poncho and a leather hat that his curly hairs peeks out from underneath and keeps his neck from getting too sunburnt. I wear sundresses and patchoulli :) hehehe...we philosophize, passionize, and daydream :D
Man I love this picture! I have been trying to get the totally rad actions set from a friend (no worries if you are reading this ;) so I started looking around for some other ps actions today and tried out a jillion and one and even then I of course had to keep tweeking it to get it the way I wanted :) I really want to tell you I think it's okay and that I had to crop my left foot out, but I don't think it's okay...and it's not on purpose. So damnit! It's not exactly like I wanted...but PRETTY DAMN CLOSE!
I got the camera strap from Kyle at our local camera shop whose blood pressure raises a couple notches when anyone calls or comes in to ask if he carries digital. He is so rad. I love hanging out in there. He lets me borrow filters and sends me out with handfulls of stuff when I leave. And always asks me if I have a gadget bag (since I never carry one) He is such a sweetheart. But anyway, that is where the strap came from, and I LOVE it! The camera is a Petri 7S - 45mm f1.8 - rangefinder! It is such a sweet camera! I got it at our Salvation Army with a roll of Kodak film already in it :) I am currently waiting for that roll to get back from Spokane.
Rah and I went to the candyTown USA today and tried to get some good shots of us sitting at the soda fountain all decked out 50's/60's style. They didn't turn out, so when he was playing at the playground Mom got to play too :) We got a great shot of the two of us too...I'll add that soon. yay!! <3

Wish I were a camera
I wish it all the time
It gives my eyes a reason
It gives my life a rhyme
I'd be a lens that could see souls
A shutter that never shuts
I'd have film that lasts forever
I would live in huts
In the jungles of South America
Like my father before the war
I'd find out where we came from
And what this life is for
