I really missed out and didn't get any good shots of the Shinto Miko outfits during this trip despite having at least two opportunities in Tokyo alone (Meiji and Yasukuni).

Just love the combination of the simple outfit with strikingly pure colors, the knots, the hair in paper, footwear, and the demeanor. Great flow too in this sort of procession.

in addition to great composition, it was shot with the X100, a camera S just hates so much despite never fixating or dwelling on equipment.

Dotonbori, Osaka, Ryokan

This wasn't exactly candid, since we both noticed how nice the light was through the shoji -- busted out the the X100 and took a shot.

Note the light from the laptop at her feet (always on and always around, sadly), the D700 in her crazy "camera" bag just waiting to fall out and hit the pavement again.

LOL.

About this ryokan -- we speculate that it used to be owned by his grandmother or something back when this area was far more of a real ghetto. It's still a red-light district (which is mild by international standards), but a great central location, safe, tons of stuff in the area, lots of tourists, etc.

Fall colors almost all gone, but still nice.

Not a crop of an earlier post, but a different shot taken before the blue hour arrived. I'm liking this composition more and more, though there are a ton of great Tokyo Tower shots out there.

Best viewed as large as possible.
