Not so sure I would be giving this is to my pets. The Potassium Bromide is an anticonvulsant and a sedative and is still used in veterinary medicine but Ammonium Bromide is used in photographic chemicals and as a flame retardant. I guess a calm and fireproof dog would have benefits.

According to wikipedia Potassium Bromide was used as a treatment for epilepsy (still is in some countries). At the time of it's discovery by Sir Charles Locock it was thought that epileptic fits were caused by masturbation which may explain the presence of this tonic in the same case with early vibrators at the Virginia City Museum of Prositution.
