Straightening Bent Spokes

Straightening Bent Spokes

Doing my best to "straighten" (read: bash!) these mangled and bent spokes on one of my BMX front wheels. I tried lacing, unlacing, twisting, prodding, gouging, smashing and every other naughty double entendre sounding verb I could think of to get this wheel back into true... It was not that successful.

One of the original G-Sport hubs laced to an Odyssey ultra light rim. Those original G Sport hubs were really amazing. Never had a hub that nice on any of my bikes (even my CX race bikes with Dura Ace and Campy).

Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout

Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout

If I could only pick one all time favorite beer (which I think is impossible at this point having tasted so many delicious ones at this point) it would be Sammy Smiths Oatmeal Stout. This was the first "real" good beer I tried and loved. I still love it. It's dark, but not heavy, with a distinct flavor and it looks great in a glass.

Clever Guerilla Marketig in the NYC Subway

Clever Guerilla Marketig in the NYC Subway

I was on my way home from a late work meeting on January 12, 2012, and found myself waiting for the D train at Broadway/Lafayette.

There was a gent playing some kind of crazy no body guitar, and selling CD's. The bucket he was using to collect money (pictured above) was the center of his guerrilla marketing program. He was pushing a screenplay and asked if anyone was interested in having a copy emailed to him. In theGuerilla arketing, film, SoHo, NYC short time I was there waiting for the train, I saw 3 people take him up on his offer. That is not a bad success rate at all.

Certainly, most people wandering the NYC subway can't do too much to help turn your screenplay into a film. Then again, SoHo NYC is probably one of the few places where you just might randoly meet someone who can make your film dreams come true.

Oban 14 year old Scotch

Oban 14 year old Scotch. Trying this for the first time at Longbow. Very smooth, no bite, smells like graveyard dirt (in a good way). Photo by Instagtam.

Magic Hat Howl Black Lager

Magic Hat Howl Black Lager

Noticed that the special Winter Magic Hat beers were out, so I grabbed this one, "Howl" black lager. Not surprisingly it is quite,"dark". It is also quite tasty. I really dig the label design.
