shake your tail feather

Ok, I see it now.. :)
shake your tail feather by emdot.
i had just told jan how i was trying to get a shot of the egret's tail feathers -- so wispy in the wind. but the egret kept an eye on me and kept moving his body, so i couldn't really get the shot i wanted. after he flew away, tho, we noticed that he left a tail feather behind.

i'd call that an excellent compromise.

thanks y'all.

vanita -- totally. i once had a turkey vulture offer a feather when I was having a very sad day and I kept that feather for about 10 years. :) (turkey vultures get bad raps).

mfshadow, sounds like you don't consider the clouds as part of the subject matter. i saw the clouds as both an echo and a contrast to the hand and feather. :)

thanks for the comments! ;)

In the thumbnail it looks like you're pulling one of those feathery clouds right out of the sky...which I fully believe you could do. If you wanted to.

Plume hunters reduced the populations of the Great Egrets by 95% in the late 1890's and early 1900's until laws were passed to protect the bird. I believe this is why the Great Egret is a symbol for the Audubon Society.

Emdot is my kind of plume hunter. Ecologically sustainable.
