We had a knockout sunset yesterday. I raced to the coast to catch it just as it was going down.

i'm captivated by all layers to this. outdoor drama, speeding train, oblivious reader, photographer. deceptively simple and stunning, em.

isn't this near those off-shore drilling platforms?

A bad ass shot ! Here it is raining cats and dogs and daylight just manages to force its way through dark gray clouds about 10 in the morning. Soon ( 22 dec) we have winter solstice and only daylight for like 3 hours. Pretty depressing huh???

As usual, you inspire me emdot. I've just uploaded a pic of a reflection while traveling looking out on water. Mine is on a ferry on a lake.

i love your comment, clutter! ;)

stonebird, i'll never tell! ;) and meanwhile, yes, what is up with the amazing sunsets lately? total treat.

haruspex -- there should be. :)

'lamp -- i had so much fun pulling out the new weapon this last weekend.

ten -- i love that.

bosque! yea! and a great commute.

garrinn -- but you have gnomes and aurora borealis and some of the most interesting people. okay okay, but the no sunshine thing would be very hard. :)

david -- that's it exactly. if you are lucky, anyway. i only wish it was a little faster -- it took 7 hours to go what would take me 4 in a car.

g. -- the colors do look enhanced, don't they? psychetropic trainride.

ken -- that's where all journeys start. ;)

dwight -- thank you. ;)

'matter -- yes yes, near the platforms. it was very clear this evening and you could see the channel islands perfectly (but they turned out very blurry in my other photos).

becca -- i'll go with you. we'll get those seats that face each other so that we each get a window seat. we'll read, talk, laugh, take pictures. and then we'll go shopping. when when when??

After some searching I found a couple of views out windows groups, but nothing that was specifically for train views only.

So I started up a group:

please join and add your out-the-window train shots

Hooooooo ohwm ward bound

Great song.

It was a favourite album of my dads.
He had it on cassette.
Our battered old Ford Cortina MkII had no sound system.
On the way to the south coast I got to sit on the grey vinyl back seat of the car with the ITT Radio Cassette player on my lap playing this track and all the rest from "Bridge over Troubled Water" - great memory.

I wore shorts so by the time we got to a loo stop my legs would be stuck to the vinyl.

Love the pic, a book, a sunset, good music. yaaaaaaaay. for simple pleasures.
