Very 1940s look to it. Love it.

  8. DrJoanne (96 months ago | reply)

    ...so moody, so good....

  9. bryan campen (96 months ago | reply)

What wonderful lighting. I immediately think of old movies when I look at this. Expecting Jimmy Stewart or Bogart to step in from the left, light a cigarette and sit for a nightcap.

Wonderful 'empty chair' ambience. It's very noir, isn't it.

  11. Lydia. (96 months ago | reply)

    Beautiful, warm and silent.

  12. B.E.C.K. (96 months ago | reply)

Ooh, the shadow looks like a woman's profile. Great shot!

  13. emdot (96 months ago | reply)

tunnel, mjsfoto, jo, cyrus, greg, lydia, b.e.c.k. -- thanks!

greg -- you inspired me to take another chair photo. :)

b.e.c.k. -- the shadow is from the statue. the statue looks like an eye, nose and lip from one angle and a woman's body from another.

Marvelous. The scene begs for a big clunky medium or large format camera; what a luscious negative this would make... and such a large rich print.

Damn, Em! This is gorgeous! it all works so well... the image rocks!

  16. bryan campen (96 months ago | reply)

I could see one of these guys breaking into this scene:

Oohhh. It is shouting Film Noir!

Hmm... "After having removed his knife from the now inanimate body of his victim, the intruder was now looking around for the Star of Jade, the jewel he had come for..." (tbc)

    :)

  22. emdot (96 months ago | reply)

aw, man. you guys are awesome. all of you. thank you.

bertrand -- i thought i had joined a film noir group... i'm going to have to go find it again.

cyrus -- yep. that guy was definitely at the scene of the crime.

brandon -- while i know utata definitely pushes my photo horizons, seriously, this house (i'm traveling right now) is a total muse. i don't think you can take a bad photo in it.

We in canada certainly get snl and in fact have populated the cast and producers to an alarming extent. Watch out, we're taking over your comedy!
