Pillar of Famous Faces
I discovered this behind the Broadmarsh bus station in Nottingham. It's situated among brick mounds that are designed for skateboarders and BMXers.
When I saw it, it seemed completely out of place - a bizarre and random thing to find in that location. I'm guessing that the heads came from a building that was demolished - but which one I don't know. Nor do I know why they were placed in this rather out-of-the-way place where they were guaranteed to get vandalized. ***Update*** Many thanks to PeteZab who pointed me to This page which explains their origins. The heads were were taken from the Montague Burton store that once stood on the corner of the old Broad Marsh and Carrington Street before the area was redeveloped. Cool. I must have walked past these loads of time and never noticed. I might just have a go at snapping them myself.
