The Great Tortilla Conspiracy 01
Well I’m getting my big break, a three-day residency at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. I’m one of three artists that have masterminded The Great Tortilla Conspiracy, a multimedia interactive exhibit of tortilla art. For my part, I’ll have a video installation and a series of prints and tortillas on display.
The exciting part is that YOU artists can come to the De Young Museum Wednesday through Friday and have your own images printed and pressed onto a tortilla, which will then be displayed for the length of the exhibit. Have you ever wanted to see your artwork on a tortilla? Then come see your boy El Rio and I’ll hook you up. The Skinny: The Great Tortilla Conspiracy will be located inside the De Young Museum’s Kimball Gallery: 1:00pm - 5:00pm on Wednesday and Thursday & 1:00pm - 8:30pm on Friday. Artists can work live in the gallery by drawing on special paper that will be cut out and heat pressed onto a tortilla before your very eyes. Alternately, artists can bring a CD with an image or an image to scan that will be printed and then pressed onto a tortilla. This is a once in a lifetime chance to see your work transferred to tortilla and displayed in one of the most prestigious arts institutions in San Francisco. I’ll be at the De Young at the above listed hours in a white labcoat making tortilla art. Come say hi and create your own tortilla art. This is also a good opportunity to check out the Chicano Visions exhibit at the De Young as well. See ya there!
