A haircut and a shave - By Angel Delgadillo -" Mr. Mayor of Mainstreet America".
This picture is the last one that was taken on my eight-day photo
trek.
One of Angel's daughters generously took the image for me in Angel's
barbershop.
This of course, was taken in Seligman, Arizona, undoubtedly the most
important stop over for anyone searching for the historic and fabled
Route 66.
What a thrill is was to get a real, old-fashioned haircut and shave by
the master himself.
Angel told me he was 36 years old and I agreed that he did not look a
day older. His daughters tell me he is 86 but that is hard to believe
when speaking with the gentleman.
What a fine man Angel Delgadillo is.
Some folks have called him the "Guardian Angel of Route 66"
and that is not far from the truth.
I wish I could say I will treasure his haircut and shave forever, but
thank goodness I have the picture and at least the memory of a great
day.
