Southeastern Utah- Summer Roadtrip 2014
20 summers ago, in June of 1994, this Illinois girl first saw what was west of the Mississippi, during a trip with Chad Roberts to Colorado and Utah. This summer we retraced many of the same routes in and around Moab, reminding me of that first visit to the beautiful Southwestern US and how it captured my imagination. By August 1995 we had a Flagstaff P.O. Box and Arizona drivers licenses.

On this trip we used Green River, UT as a four-night base camp to explore the region, and also spent one night (a little bit of a splurge for our upcoming wedding anniversary) at the San Juan Inn, in Mexican Hat en route back home. Highlights included: river fun, awe-inspiring canyons, ancient pictographs, miniature donkeys, roadside weirdness, ghost towns and vintage motels.

Chad, the dogs and I all set foot (all 20 of them!) into the Green River, Colorado River, Onion Creek and the San Juan River. We are river fans and gravitate towards the rare ribbon where the dramatic southwestern desert meets a green-fringed river.
