Spaetzle

Spaetzle by elkit.
Yumm, Käsespätzle. I had a hankering for them, and they're easily enough made - flour, eggs, salt, nutmeg, water for the spaetzle (German egg noodles, for those of you who are not familiar with this dish). Fry em up in a skillet with onion and cheese, and dig in! Yes, I saved you some, and I'll give you the recipe too. But not till tomorrow - I'm fat and happy and tired now. :-)

Yuuuummmmm! I'm trying to find a market here that carries spaetzle as my supply from a bavarian market in Reno, NV just ran out.

Where you at, Halle? Are you a Bay Arean? If you are, go to Dittmer's in Mountain View. Or have dinner in San Francisco at the Suppenküche, my home away from home. :-)

I've never been to Portland, so I can't direct you. :-( Good luck in your spaetzle-locating endeavor!

Try your local German restaurants - I'd say you have about a 50/50 chance they'll serve this. If you're local to the San Francisco Bay Area (I can't tell from your profile), you MUST try the Suppenküche. It's my favorite place for German food outside of my own kitchen. Good luck!
