Hanuman light

Prakash sits on the side of Mysore's palace crossing. Everyday during the week I was there, I could see him refreshing the huge Hanuman he draw before my venue.

"Prakash" means "light". , such is the name of this brave. Prakash, his dog Hanuman form a sacred space in the full buzzling middle of town. People carefully don't walk on the god's representation. But the dog sleep at his crown, like a guardian…

Sometimes i could see Prakash sharing tea with mysterious people he liked to talk with, sitting at Hanuman's feet. I know it's sad somehow, but at the same time the man did'nt look distressed. He manages to live a life with the coins people offer to his Hanuman, he says "Hanuman takes care of me"…

Hanuman is called "Mahabir", the great hero, wich is also the name for the first of Jaïn Thirthankar. His "championship" is an inner unshakeable strenght, a strenght able to overcome any and all fears, doubts, discouragment and the like coming across reaching one's goal. Quite useful in life.

I love this ... "Hanuman takes care of me" ... it's like a circle. He re-draws him, he gets new coins, hopefully enough for his needs and -- just as important -- new chalk. While Hanuman lives, Prakash lives.

J'aime beaucoup tes commentaires où on apprend toujours des choses touchantes.
Dans cette image, j'aime beaucoup les pieds des femmes qui semblent défiler à gauche. On devine la foule incessante juste à côté de ce petit champ de tranquillité.

Really touching story... really nice photo as well my friend.

PD: I think that it is spelt "mahaaviir". "mahaa": great, grand etc. "viira"=hero in sanskrit, then "viir" in Hindi.

(Mais je ne veux pas t'embêter...) Gros bisous!

Pranam Sri Maitreya. I just checked my Oxford Hindi-English dictionnary : "biir" and "viir", each entry notify the other as a spelling possibilibity for Hero.

Tu ne m'embêtes pas du tout, au contraire. I learn a lot thank's to the comments of my most precious Flickr friends, you're one of them. Merci de ta visite, bonne journée !

    A beautiful day to everybody.

Eli, désolé... j'ai pris le "viira" du sanskrit, je ne savais pas que cette orthographie etait aussi possible. "bhiira" en sanskrit means: "intimidating", which fits for Hanuman as well ;)
Merci beaucoup! I learned something new today!

    Saprem Namaskar!

Wow - so moving. I learn so much from your photos, the dignity of life. I have been lucky to visit India twice, once for 4 months' travel, another time for a 3 week holiday. When I see images such as yours, I long to return.
