...that you might be thinking of when you look at this photograph but it's actually an unfinished monument on the top of Calton Hill in Edinburgh.

Recent visitors to my stream may have observed that clouds have been a prominent theme in the last few pictures - heck it was a great day, I wasn't going to pass up the chance of shots like this!

This image has been blogged extensively. I'm grateful for the views but, while you're here, how about checking out some of my other pictures. You can see all of my HDR images here, have a look at my fake tilt-shift shots or just take a look at the rest of my photostream. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm a bit hacked off that people are citing this as an example of bad HDR. Just to be clear I'm not claiming this is a great HDR image but I can't help it if other people want to blog and re-blog this and hold it up as some awesome piece of art. I don't think it's that great myself but I can't control what other people make of it.

      Alex Linebrink - thanks.

Justin Simpson - I know, it's crazy! People seem to love blogging this image for some reason and who am I to argue :-)

At the back of my mind I do wonder if those are actual views or just server requests.

Great Pic .... from a far. Looking close the noise is way out of control fringing is everywhere and colors are in less than accurate. Harsh but true. This image really needs some better post processing or simply size it down. I'm really just jealous because this hdr really stands out from the rest, nicely done :)

Thank you for the in-depth critique! You make some fair points. I'm not sure if any HDR image stands up to really close scrutiny. As for the realism of the colour, and probably the image in general, well I never said I was aiming for realism! I read somewhere (doubtless in one of the many many places that this image has been blogged) that this image almost had a computer game look to it (I think the comparison was to Oblivion) and I'm fine with that.
