"time marches on"

a mixed media piece I did for an art class assignment. the theme was "time" and we were allowed to explore that concept and what it meant to us through any media. I chose to use a 19th century gown that happens to be falling apart. I pinned photocopies of various 19th and 20th century photographs from my collection to the dress as well. I wanted to contrast the idea of perservation of time/images/people with the decaying dress (since time doesn't stand still). the piece was mounted directly to the wall using clips and pins. this was my first real foray into using non-traditional art materials and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. :)
