They didn't call it emo back then. Note the 'clever' label on the tape itself, written in white-out. A mix by another Sarah, including Smiths, Morissey, Michael Penn, Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, TMBG, Cure A mix I made, of songs from Neubaten, Nick Cave, Drovers, Arson Garden, Sugarcubes, Gerunds

Ahh cassette tapes. The mp3 generation would have no idea what these are. I don't think I have any mix tapes left. But I still keep my original cassettes and albums from the 80s, even though the sound quality on some of them are pretty worn out. I jumped on the mp3 bandwagon, but i can't bear to part with them for sentimental reasons. I like having memorabilia from when the music was actually released.
BTW, you have great taste. And you are right...they didn't call it emo back then...college rock, modern rock, alternative, lots of other names i can't think of
