I'm gonna go ahead and call this my most "controversial" photo ever, given the considerable mixed opinion as to whether I overprocessed it or not. I actually like the criticism as much as I do the compliments - it's nice to know you all care! For the record, my official position on it is as follows: I like it, so :-P Edit: And so do a lot of people apparently. Thanks!

Wow! #1 in Explore! That's a first for me :)
The detail is amazing but, hmm, dunno....
HDRs taken this far are just a little too
overcooked for my personal tastes. But
superbly well done to get a shot like this
with all those moving objects! :-)

Normally I agree with you, but in this case
it was necessary because a lot of the details
were pretty obscured and the girls in
particular were in pretty deep shadow. I did
my best to strike a good balance in
processing it.

I really like this shot - there's so much
going on, it's a great capture.
I like the "painterly-ness" of it
- it works here.
I think if there was just a little less of a
red cast (from the umbrella?) on the girls it
would be perfect.
The crop on the umbrella adds to the energy
of the shot.
Terrific

IMPRESSIVE, work. Fantastic picture. It seems
that they want to leave the picture.
Sensational. The rain is so real that, I am
wetting
Enjoy the day

Love it! The processing is perfect to me...it
brings out the intensity of the moment. I
also enjoy photos with a painterly feel to
them, and this one definitely has that.

Art is so personal, isn't it? I personally
LOVE this shot and I find it dismaying that
people make it a point to tell us when they
don't! (Unless we've posted it somewhere
specifically asking for such comments)
Stumbled on your photostream and am looking
forward to spending time with it - a quick
glimpse will not be enough! :-)

It resembles a painting almost and you were
great at capturing the fun aspect of being
caught in the rain. I love to walk in the
rain.

laughter in the rain. this pic shows how fun
the rain can be, and how it brings people
closer under the umbrella of friendship and
happiness.

It is a work of art. I love it! You have
depicted a happy rainy day and I don't think
it would have had the impact without your
special touches.

Nothing wrong with the processing! It's a
great HDR rendered photo. Not to mention
that the photo tells a great story. Love
their expressions too! Love it!
It pops, and it's got its own
pseudo-cartoonish nature (in that it's
brighter than nature) that's very attractive,
so I think this one's a success. :)

It is impressionistic.
Sometimes a properly changed, tweaked if you
will, photograph
will convey the feel [i.e. The impression of
they way the brain recalls]
of the moment much better than a strait
photograph out of the camera
plagued with too much reality. In that case,
it is boring and you just say
"next"
This picture as displayed does not say next
to me, I lingered on it,
enjoyed the moment of life and love that it
captured and I absorbed it.
I can remember it. It is burned into my
brain. I hope that says something to you. The
tweak seems just right to me and you knew
when to stop.

It's beautiful, as it is, and a great
illustration of friendship. And the girls's
laughter and smiles, they're natural, no?
