I am a Muslim not a Commodity

Love this! So true!
Be free to speak your mind and call it living in the west
If this moron held a sign like this in ANY MUSLIM country, he would be imprisoned and killed - by the government of that MUSLIM country. The selective outrage of the Left in the U.S. is apalling and hypocritical.
Really,This is True,I think You are The Real "X" In our Life
Demonstrations- a great way to feel a sense of achievement without achieving anything.
So true
Absolutely Wrong, u are saying what u don't know
You say do this in West..... but if you say opposite in Arab , you will be Killed
I am a Muslim not a Commodity by Edge of Space.
And how true are the things written on the protest flag that person is holding .... It so depicts not only the sentiments of every muslim who's been targetted for racism, genocide, class of imperialism and brutality but also voices the millions of Americans, Panamanians, Rwandan, Venezveulans and every single soul who's been a victim of "treachery disguised in fake democracy", lies, misinformed and misguided reports. How the hell you can create peace out of bombardments, liberate through lies and your greed. bombing to save your own skin. Saying no we are not racists or whatever and doing everything exactly opposite. Just in few days time ... Afghanistan was destroyed... Iraq was destroyed ... lebanon was destroyed ... just to safeguard your own political and material interests ...

God help us... how can you expect people to love you when you are the very reason for the loss of mothers, fathers, siblings and even children... When you arm one military force only to support her to bomb and rock the civilians' places. Impossible...

Ah, Asma, you got that so right. Scary and true. Truth is scary, that's why we have mastered the art of camouflage, disguised, misguided beliefs and building comfort zones. Glad you saw it. Only because it's better to be more informed than living in denial however sweet that could be. Keep up the faith, kiddo.

Democracy, what the Bush administration calls for, is different. In a democracy, the majority rules either directly or through its elected representatives. The law is whatever the government determines it to be. Laws aren't necessarily based upon reason but power. In other words, democracy is just another form of tyranny – tyranny of the majority.
Majority rule is a zero-sum game with winners and losers, with winners having the power to impose their wills on the minority. Conflict emerges when the minority resists.

Howie Silvers, I am not too sure either. But my best guess is this time the whole world's trying to end not just one war but the war of the wars.

Jazzi bhai, this is good controversial subject, I guess. I personally wanted the last word to be "liberation" instead of Democracy because that's what the US Govt. has been yelling about the whole time. Ah, liberation. You know it's widely discussed that US has been growing interests in Liberating Iran of its current islamic doctrine and legislative body etc... Liberation, as you can see, is another fine word made of silky satin deceit.

But I'm also very sad to observe the lack of political awareness in the muslim world... When will muslims will unite against their own fanatics and their socio-political agendas, which are as harmful to this beautiful religion as Bush's "democracy" in the middle east ?
I've been leaving in North Africa for quite a while now, I've been looking for that and I don't see that happening very often...

I'm sure I'll be on my government's watch list for saying this, but frankly, this sign and this sentiment is in line with what I think is **really** going on in your country (and all around you). I'm so tired of the song and dance the Bush administration performs when it needs a reason to take over someone's oil... I've said for years, "They don't hate our freedoms, they despise our policies".

As Alex has said, there needs to be more awareness in the Muslim community, also -- but how can we blame people in this region for being upset with everything that is going on? How can we blame them for feeling threatened?

Thanks for posting this, Ejaz - and for all your lovely comments.

Thanks Bob, for your kind and nice comments. I truly believe that whenever Muslim world says that "we hate america" it's the government and the policies of mindless pres. bush it despises so dearly and it has every reason to, as you rightly said.

And the fact that Bush's policies and Government is not only a threat and source of contempt for muslim world, it's a big bunch of lies and injustice to its own people who are just the same happy and nice people like everyone else in the world mostly. the fact that most of muslim communities, be it Pakistanis or Arabs, in America have been contibuting to its wealth, peace and social areas for many years really really suggests its not men against men but men against governments.
Thank you for your kind visit, Bobby. Much appreciated and humbled.

Do not unlease the dogs of war and then complain when someone is bitten. Stop harboring terrorists, stop growing poppies, stop treating your woman as less than equals and get out of the middle ages. Let Ideas Compete  Pro User  says:

Partial truths and gross oversimplifications. I don't understand the "rob our resources" since it was the west that helped developed the oil fields and paid certain governments much money (which they neglected to distributed fairly). Plus, the west is paying market value for the resources - hard for me to comprehend how that is robbing.

Part of the problem is that country's with *as V. S. Naipal said) have such large ammounts of unearned wealth (they just sit back and let the oil bring in the money while paying other's to do the actual work of getting the oil), causes people to think in perverted ways.

When it come to avoiding collateral damage, the west is trying to minimize and certainly is doing a better job that the sunni vs shia conflicts.

Not sure what people have been exiles "en masse." Must be referring to the Palestinians. If so, that's a very complex issue. Seems odd that the non-Muslims have beed exiled from Muslim countries (well there are extremely small percentages of non-Muslims there)

Funny how all the slogans on the bill board seem to be exactly what Muslims advocate for the rest of the world. Sounds hypocritical to me. Let's rephase it to the sign a non-Muslim might carry in a Muslim country (assuming the country had freedom of speech):
I am a non-Muslim - Kill me because you think I'm an infidel and am therefore not human. Call it jihad.
Imprison me and call it purifying society.
Exile us from your country and call it what Mohamed would want.
Destroy all that is non-Muslim, terrorize governments into Sharia law and dictatorships run by religious fanatics and call it the will of god.

I think we need to review the history books and you'll find neither side is innocent.

I hope the usefull tool of internet (youtube, wikipedia, flickr etc etc) would be usefull for a better understanding between the people worldwide.
Youtube is particularly interesting for the gulf war, in fact ,governments are now unnable to control the free flow of information; as the dozens of us soldiers that have posted a self maked video with their personal fighting experience.
There are also a few iraqi videos (cos its expensive)mede by bagdad citizens as example"hometown baghdad" where a groups of english speaking iraqi teens speak about their daily life in a city covered in blood.

"I am Muslim," yes.

"Kill me call it collateral damage," no; when car bombings blow you up, its called terrorism.

"Imprison me call it Security Measure," When people are imprisoned, whether they be Muslim, Christian, Jewish, white, black, brown, American, or someone from the Middle East, there is a reason for it. It doesnt matter what religion you are, if you are doing something intended to hurt other, say terrorism, they should be dealt with. This goes for ANYONE.

"Rob my resources, invade my land, alter my leadership Call it Democracy." I agree, the U.S. should not have invaded Iraq, that's a given. But the leadership? Yes, Saddam kept Iraq in line, but this was through horrible killings, murders, and torture. I dont see any liberal condeming him. What's wrong here? First off, let me say torture is bad. For the most part, it does not even work. The U.S. supposedly does waterboarding as a form of getting information. In comparison, Saddam, and many, many others like him have done, and continue to do things like having henchmen torture families, and smashing their babies against walls. Human shredders, decapitations, rape, genocide, and even more disgusting things. Their freedom fighters alright. Sounds sort of like Hitler.

Let me just say again, we should not have invaded Iraq. We do, however, need to remember what really happened.

"Why cant we all just get along," someone said earlier. That is a good question. I wish it were that simple. If only it were.

So upsetting and so ture

as for those who said that we call fllying a plane into the world trade center justice..well I'm personally against whoever attacks civilians.. and based on alquran alkareem and the prophet sunnah, it's haram to kill children, women, and old people, or even cut a tree in war cases, so how would it be if there wasn't a war. just like americans opposed Bush's attacks to Iraq, we are against the 11\9 attacks and the suicidal bombing done by muslims in Palistine or any other country, since in Islam Muslims aren't allowed to kill themselves.

Americans, we don't blame you. we blame the authrity and Bush's rules and strategies. and in my point of view, you have been brainwashed as long as you see the Israeli and american murders to the Iraqi and Palestinian civilians as justice and ok.

just like the attackers in 11-9 are terrorists because they attacked civilians, you should use your reasoning to include the attackers of civilians in any country in the world. whoever kills women, children, senior citizens, or a peaceful man without a weapon is terrorist regardless of their religion. I mean come one ,Palistinians , Iraqies, and Afghanistanians are humans at the end, aren't they?
I believe, we can all live togather in peace, Muslims, Christians, Jews...etc if we thought deeply about the overall picture, interpreted it without the government wordings or direction, and react strongly towards ending these damaging wars.

Much has been said here on this page. I wish I could speak with many of you. The immigration issue here in the US and more specifically Texas, has given me some insight into one issue that is at the heart of the conflict in the middle-east. This issue is buried in one of your “jokes,” Muslim Veganista. You said . . .

“What do you call it when a Palestinian uses violence against the Jews who have illegally occupied his land? - A terrorist attack.

You said, “Illegally occupied” and more importantly, “his land?”
The Israelites are wrong to claim that land!
And, Palestinians are wrong to claim that land!
Now, let me tell you all a story.
A couple generations from now, when the world’s oil is all gone and those caverns become polluted aquifers beneath destroyed ecosystems, the children will ask, “What happened here?”
Well, there once were these people, who took all that the land had to offer. They sucked the Earth’s resources dry and left only waste before they died. Then the children will ask, “But, why?” They were given a chance to live in abundance, in the wonders of this world, but they called it theirs and THEY THOUGHT THEY OWNED THE LAND. So, they consumed it all in their ignorant greed, leaving nothing for you or for your children. Fret not for these children, for they died before they could cry.

Land ownership is a frivolous concept. When settlers bought land from the Native Americans they paid nearly nothing for it, because these tribes understood that the land was not theirs. Native Americans knew the Earth was merely placed in their trust. The things of this Earth are not our right, but rather our privilege. There will never be peace till we stop thinking of our father’s father, and start thinking of our children’s children.

The Taliban did not attack the US. Most of the "highjackers" are still alive!

Yes, Saddam did need to be removed from power. We are all citizens of the world. Technology had made us all close neighbors, and this forum is further evidence thereof. It is the international community's right and responsibility to immediately remove from power, anyone who commits genocide on any scale. Unfortunately, that did not happen, and Bush CREATED circumstances that he thought gave him cause to TRY and act like a cowboy. (He failed.)
Asma and Edge of Space, thank you for the pic, your love, and a place to vent.

The world needs less people saying "you" and more people saying "we."

We are all ignorant. We are only human. We need to teach each other.
We need to love each other.

Right or wrong, no man can judge. I love you all, for caring enough to comment.

It is sad to see humans do so much harm to each other. We ought to hold each other up. We ought to cooperate and learn to love each other.

Instead it seems that there are those amongst us who are willing to kill for reasons of global domination - presumably to satisfy some inner need for superiority (a symptom of low self-esteem perhaps? - perhaps it is simply "evil.").

Change is required. I want future generations to experience a better world, a peaceful world. A world where respect, equity, equality, equitableness, truth and honesty are expressed in relationships between people.

I wish more people would, not only see this, but understand all that it means.

The biggest shame of all is so much of the world is oppressed by their governments and their own ignorance that this couldn't be seen much less understood.

Librarian of history says:

The post is very true and people shouldn't be discriminate if they want to leave their live differently from the people in USA or EU.

But when it comes to the money and resources everything called "democracy" fade away, and there is nothing right, nothing true and everything is unfair, like the oil wars:
- first there was struggle between Iraq and Iran, (west and east);
-then Iraq invaded Kuvajt,
-the West retailed and the first gulf war started and finished, and Iraq was obligated to sell it's oil just for medicine and food;
- the Oil is starting to deplete and Iraq has it's reserves almost in full capacity, so USA as the largest user decide that it should be his, so it attacks it( with "believe" that it has high risk chemical weapons of mass destruction );
-USA conquers Iraq and American Oil companies take over the oil wells for sum of their modernization for the period of the next 10 (110) years. That is the till this moment history of the Iraq situation.

So lets gets somethings clear terrorism has nothing to do with the Muslims as people or religion, more terror is done by the Vatican church than bu the Muslim. But it has only to do as people perception.
Differences of perception :
1. a boy wakes up in a half demolished house from the sounds of bombing: for the people in the boy's country is the worst possible terror somebody is attacking you at night with bombs from above and you can't do anything about it. That for them is terrorism; for the country that bombs innocent children is war action.
2. A bus of military personal is blown away for the nation of the soldier s that a act of terrorism, for the people that put the bomb it's war action.

That is one of the things that I don't like at the "Great war against terrorism" you fight the people that you have terrorized before with acts of new terror; the results are clear, a new wave terror will be born again, and again.

The peace doesn't lie in the globalism process, that is a process that changes the people to act in similar way, but instead in accepting the different cultures as they are without trying to change them.

Accept the people as they are with all of their flaws and improvements over your and they won't thread you as threat, but as friend

Quite sad to read a lot of the bigotry on here, "go back to where you came from" really puts a smile on my face! Freedom is such an overused word, that it has completely lost it's meaning. The placard is a cry for help from someone who has lost hope, and that's a terrible thing to lose.

I believe it was Oscar Wilde who once said that 'Patriotism Is A Virtue Of The Vicious.'

G.W.B has proven that sentiment to be true to the last letter, using the Islamic world and its people as the victims of his views.

What people don't understand about the Islamic faith is that they are strict in their rejection of Idolatry. They are very strict in rejecting that anything could be as great as God. They worship god and only god. This is not true in the United States. Our government has become a religion. We have such patriotism that, viewed from the outside looking in, we worship it as we worship God. That is where the misunderstanding lies. People can get their panties in a bunch about all the horrible things that America is doing... we should be ashamed... bla bla bla... We have heard it all before. What would actually be a productive use of our energy is to recognize the middle ground in all of this. We have to utilize moderate, liberal muslim groups to take the wind from the extremist groups' sails. How about a little respect too? That would always be nice. America is doing it's best. We are not going to change what is happening right now, but we can shape it. That is how we should approach out government and the middle easts. Don't make radical claims. That's what you do in high school to try and pass your english exam. We are past that. It is time to be real. Let's stop pointing fingers, then maybe everyone can start taking responsibility for their actions.

I never said I don't love America. I said we have a stark misunderstanding of each other.

Oh, I forgot, being respectful of Islam makes me unpatriotic. Intolerance, the american way.

I am American. I love my Country. I am not blind. I can love my country and see ways to make it better.

wow. sheer brilliance. awesome logic hun. So because we have given them what we like to call "unalienable" rights they should worship us. They should all be indebted to us forever... but they never asked us to do anything for them. That is like giving someone a dollar and then demanding a week later that they pay you back. It doesn't work that way. We do not walk on water. They want to maintain their culture. They have rich traditions that we are threatening. It is perfectly reasonable, and the United States should take this into account.
...oh i forgot... God Blessed America and only America... Who cares what other people think.
