Joy of living as a monk or joy of being kids?

I saw a bigger monk get after them with a whip-like thing when they weren't moving fast enough to the prayerhall so I'm not sure the monk part is all that blissful.

Have you seen "The Cup"? It's FULL of joy but also shows a bit of the authoritarian side of the monastery system.
