XV712 Sea King HAS.6 Duxford

XV712 Sea King HAS.6 Duxford

Must have taken a "few hours" of hard work to decorate!

The Sea King HAS.6 version was all but withdrawn from use apart from a couple of HAS.6CR's.
Most of them are now in use as engineering airframes at Gosport and Cosford. A few have been exported to Australia for spares use by the Royal Australian Navy.

Fairey Gannet XG797 first flew in 1957 as an AS4 anti-submarine patrol aircraft. A complex aircraft, folding wings for deck storage and twin engines through double props on a single shaft. She was later converted to an ECM6 (electronic counter measures) version. XG797 has been at Duxford since the early 1970's.
