7/52 | The Gamorreans

7/52 | The Gamorreans

52 Weeks of Star Wars is a weekly photo project starring various characters from the Star Wars franchise. This photo project is a continuation of sorts to my original series; 365 Days of Clones, specially my Cloned Photos mini-series.

Today marks the seventh creation in this year long adventure. As the title suggests; 52 Weeks of Star Wars, one new photo will be taken, edited and added to the running total every Sunday. The twist is that all the images will be a recreation of sorts of a previous image. Some; like today, will be a recreation from a movie poster, while others will be recreations of famous images of the 20th century or album covers. There may even be the odd recreation of a painting!

“The Gamorreans” is my recreation of the Matt Groening’s "The Simpsons Movie" poster. The Simpsons is a cartoon series based upon the middle class American lifestyle. The show takes place in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture, society, television and many aspects of the human condition.

Some of you may be wondering why I chose to create a Cloned Photo based upon the Simpsons. Today just happened to the 500th episode! I Thought it would be fun to pay homage to one of the greatest “kids” shows ever. I also thought there would be some good connections between Homer and the Gamorrean Guard. Mmm...donuts...

Enjoy!

6/52 | The Mona Leia

6/52 | The Mona Leia

52 Weeks of Star Wars is a weekly photo project starring various characters from the Star Wars franchise. This photo project is a continuation of sorts to my original series; 365 Days of Clones, specially my Cloned Photos mini-series.

Today marks the sixth creation in this year long adventure. As the title suggests; 52 Weeks of Star Wars, one new photo will be taken, edited and added to the running total every Sunday. The twist is that all the images will be a recreation of sorts of a previous image. Some; like today, will be a recreation from a famous painting, while others will be recreations of various movie poster or album covers and some will be remakes of famous images of the 20th century.

“The Mona Leia” is my recreation of the Leonardo da Vinci’s "Mona Lisa". The Mona Lisa is likely the most recognizable portrait ever painted and is said to have “never been completed”.

Some of you may be wondering why I chose to create a Cloned Photo based upon the Mona Lisa. The idea of recreating a painting using photography and Photoshop is fascinating to me and also presents a unique challenge. I’ve recreated a few other non photographical images; Cloned Guernica, the Vitruvian Trooper, the Troopers, etc... with various levels of success, but I feel it is always good to step out of your comfort zone and try different techniques and build upon your skill set. This is just another attempt at challenging myself. I feel it turned out well, but the craquelure could use some work as could the focus of the background.

Enjoy!

5/52 | Back to the Cantina

5/52 | Back to the Cantina

52 Weeks of Star Wars is a weekly photo project starring various characters from the Star Wars franchise. This photo project is a continuation of sorts to my original series; 365 Days of Clones, specially my Cloned Photos mini-series.

Today marks the fifth creation in this year long adventure.

“Back to the Cantina” is my recreation of the "Back to the Future" movie poster. Back to the Future was originally released on July 3, 1985 and starred Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. The films tells the story of Marty McFly, a teenager who is accentually sent back in time from 1985 to 1955 via Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown’s time machine DeLorean.

Some of you may be wondering why I chose to create a Cloned Photo based upon this 80s classic. There are the obvious connections between Luke Skywalker and Marty McFly as well as those between Obi-Wan Kenbi and “Doc” Brown as well as the mentor/mentee relationship between both characters in both films. Plus, it just seemed like a fun thing to do!

Enjoy!
