Tubular cast on for endpaper mits

I tried, then frogged, the suggested tubular cast on for this one, then went with an EZ variant - provisional cast on, a few rows of stockinette, then alternate knitting the stitch and purling the corresponding stitch at the provisional end.

Wasn't sure I liked this picture, but it's growing on me.
